Neutrinos travels faster than light, puzzling results from CERN

Today,in the morning, a ground breaking news has caught my attention- “Faster than light particle found :!: , the scientists claim that ‘Neutrinos’ travels faster than light.:-o

According to Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, nothing can go faster than the speed of light.
But the researchers on the Opera (CERN) claimed that- The pulse of hi-energy neutrinos sent through the ground from Cern toward the Gran Sasso laboratory (which is about 730km away), seemed to show up a tiny fraction of a second early.1

There are a lots of experiments have been undertaken and no result has ever spotted a particle breaking the speed of light until now.

The claim was met with skepticism, with one outside physicist calling it the equivalent of saying you have a flying carpet. In fact, the researchers themselves are not ready to proclaim a discovery and are asking other physicists to independently try to verify their findings. 2

Now the question is-”Did neutrino really can travel faster than the light?” The result of that experiment may suggest that but still it is too early to jump to a conclusion.

Dr Ereditato said,”My dream would be that another, independent experiment finds the same thing – then I would be relieved,we are not claiming things, we want just to be helped by the community in understanding our crazy result – because it is crazy. And of course the consequences can be very serious.3

The new discovery might forces the scientist to go back and revise the long-established Theory of Relativity. Let’s wait and see what happen next. ;)
